FILIPPO GANNA WINS THE STAGE AND CONQUERS THE PINK JERSEY

Top Ganna continues the Timetrial dominance by winning the 1st stage of the Giro d’Italia at the speed average of 59km/h and obtains the first Pink jersey. An impressive race of the Italian cyclist – that wearing the legendary NORTHWAVE Extreme Pro – brings home the I° stage of the 103rd edition of the pink race in just 15 minutes and 24 seconds. At the end of the race Filippo Ganna says: "Today I did something amazing”. On the other hand there is the unlucky stage of the Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez who, due to a very bad fall, is already out of the Giro. Ganna, Timetrial brand new World Champion, was certainly today’s favourite. The 15.1 km of circuit has been covered by Filippo Ganna at the amazing speed average of 58.8km/h, allowing him to win the first stage with a 22 seconds over the Portuguese Joao Almeida (Deceuninck) and with the same time, the Danish Mikkel Bjerg (UAE Emirates). Geraint Thomas (Ineos), one of the favourite obtained the fourth position at 23” while Nibali finished his stage with 1 ’29 " of delay.
